Finding true love and a soulmate is one of life’s most joyous moments. I thought I’d found “the one,” but falling for a narcissist turned my world into a chaotic emotional rollercoaster.

A narcissist is a master of disguise, an actor who charms their way into your life, making you believe they are falling head over heels in love with you. They make you feel like a million dollars, but those beguiled don’t know the emotional abuse that is coming.

My Journey through Narcissistic Abuse

Narcissistic abuse is primarily emotional but can also involve physical and sexual abuse. It comes from someone with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). My ex’s abuse included insults, put-downs, verbal abuse, name-calling, accusations, harsh criticism, silent treatment, and threats. They constantly gaslit me, contradicted me, and sought control. After the honeymoon period, emotional abuse crept in insidiously.

A person with NPD is hyper-critical and judgmental, ignores boundaries, invades privacy, and acts possessively. They cleverly manipulate people for their ends, and…
